School rooms for the Elisabeth-Gymnasium
At the beginning of July 2020, the need for replacement classrooms at Elisabeth-Gymnasium in Mannheim became known. Due to a fire safety renovation of the old building, a solution had to be found that would cover the need for classrooms in the short term, economically and in line with the requirements of a school in order to ensure that the numerous pupils and teachers could continue to attend school undamaged.
NEW CLASSROOMS FROM X-CLASS
During the refurbishment of the secondary school, AMTRA Mobilraum GmbH provided a three-storey facility consisting of several X-classunits, resulting in a total of 14 classrooms on the lower and upper floors, a staff room and various ancillary rooms.
The Elisabeth-Gymnasium’s mobile classroom facility is therefore a total of 30 meters long and almost 17 meters wide. This means that the pupils have enough space and the ideal conditions to feel comfortable in the temporary classrooms during the renovation.
EQUIPMENT OF THE BUILDING
The dimensions of the X-class allow the additional installation of an acoustic ceiling, which effectively absorbs sound and thus ensures a more pleasant learning environment. In addition, blinds were installed to regulate solar radiation and, in conjunction with the high-quality thermal insulation, ensure a pleasant indoor climate in the facility.
You can find more information on the equipment of the X-class Lineat here.
The system was planned together with those responsible at BBS Mannheim as well as planners and architects from AMTRA in such a way that the system includes an internal stairwell so that pupils and teachers do not have to leave the system to change classrooms.
SAFETY FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS
Quick and safe evacuation in the event of danger is particularly important to AMTRA during the construction of each facility. The mobile rooms were equipped in accordance with the school building guidelines, with emphasis placed on safety and fire protection: For example, all mobile rooms have fire resistance class F30, and the entire facility is also equipped with a fire alarm system.
NO ADDITIONAL COSTS THANKS TO ALL-ROUND SERVICE
Thanks to the service provided by AMTRA Mobilraum GmbH, the specified location was examined in detail together with the responsible site manager before the mobile school was installed. This made it possible to avoid additional costs due to unforeseen work, as the facility was set up on an original sports field with various equipment.
As AMTRA was always at their side from the planning phase onwards, the clients from Mannheim were able to concentrate fully on their day-to-day business without having to devote further resources to realizing their requirements.
The delivery of the mobile rooms was also planned in advance together with the client down to the smallest detail. The difficulty in setting up the system due to the fencing of the sports field with a 6-metre-high steel fence and the trees surrounding the field had to be taken into account and clarified during delivery so that there were no complications or delays during installation.
ENERGY OPTIMIZATION FOR LONGER SERVICE LIFE
The mobile rooms were only rented for two years, but can be rented for longer if the renovation work is delayed. To ensure energy- and resource-saving operation, the mobile rooms were upgraded on site by AMTRA in accordance with the requirements of the latest Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV).
CUSTOMER QUOTE
Ms. Schreier, project manager at BBS Mannheim, is completely satisfied:
“Construction went smoothly. The 3-storey facility was erected on schedule and within the planned timeframe. The fit-out of the container facility with acoustically effective ceilings, flooring, doors, railings, kitchenette, etc. was very appealing.
We are pretty sure that the students will take to these rooms well and feel comfortable here.”
