Winsen-Roydorf integrated comprehensive school: school pavilion as alternative accommodation for extension building

Versatile room container solution for pupils and teachers: The school pavilion that AMTRA has built on the grounds of the integrated comprehensive school (IGS) Winsen-Roydorf comprises four classes, a group room and a common room for teachers. With its stable pitched roof and modern technical equipment, the facility is also ideally suited for longer periods of use.

The IGS Winsen-Roydorf is being extended by a further building for the upper school. For the planned construction period of 18 months, the district of Harburg has commissioned AMTRA Mobilraum GmbH with the construction of a temporary school pavilion, which offers space for four classes, a group room, a staff room and a technical room.

AMTRA realized the container system according to the customer’s requirements on the basis of a minimum floor area of 70 square meters per classroom.

Among other things, AMTRA supplied the following for the project:

  • 20 containers for the classrooms
  • 3 containers for the group room
  • 2 containers for the teacher base
  • 1 container for the technical room
  • 6 Corridor containers
  • Radio networked smoke detectors
  • Infrared heating panels
  • Complete electrical installation under plaster or in the parapet duct

Safety devices

The entire system is equipped with networked smoke detectors that can also be triggered manually at two points in the corridor. In accordance with the requirements of the building permit, the walls of the corridors and the plant room were designed in fire resistance class F30 and battery-buffered emergency exit and emergency lights were installed. Fire extinguishers in the corridor and in the plant room (CO2) enable rapid intervention in the event of a fire.

The panic locking system on the external doors enables the facility to be cleared quickly and easily at any time. Additional requirements for escape and rescue routes in schools are met by means of a sophisticated combination of turn/tilt fittings, shutter locks and window sills.

Technical equipment

From large pinboards and efficient infrared heating panels to the complete electrical installation including data lines: In the project for IGS Winsen-Roydorf, AMTRA also fulfilled all of the customer’s individual equipment requirements down to the last detail. Here, too, the focus was on user-friendly application: the light in the corridor switches on automatically thanks to motion detectors and the infrared heating elements are regulated automatically via timers and thermostats. This also contributes to high energy efficiency, as does the use of LED light sources in the louvre luminaires.

The network cabling of the entire container system leads into the technology room and enables teaching via notebooks and ultra-modern active boards.

The scattered perforated ceilings contribute to good acoustics and a pleasant learning atmosphere, as do the high-quality interior walls and noise-reducing, insulated interior doors.

Architectural features

The facility was equipped for long-term use of at least one and a half years. In addition to a pitched roof – designed as an insulated cold roof with trapezoidal sheet metal cladding – the facility also has a lightning protection system including a deep earth electrode and exterior lights with a twilight switch.
