RWE Power AG & X-tend: Strong partner for a new start

All coal-fired power plants are to be gradually decommissioned by 2038. In April 2024, 15 coal-fired power plant units (7 lignite, 8 hard coal units) with a total capacity of 4.4 GW were already shut down, including RWE plants (Neurath, Niederaussem).

In view of the current closures and the upcoming coal phase-out in Germany by 2038, an efficient, flexible and reliable accommodation solution for the dismantling process is essential. With the product line X-tend product line, AMTRA offers a tried and tested solution that meets all requirements in terms of flexibility, speed and compliance, including at RWE’s Neurath power plant.

The initial situation

The coal phase-out in Germany is enshrined in law, but is associated with technical, financial and political challenges. While renewables dominate electricity generation, coal-fired power plants will remain relevant as a “bridging technology” until 2038 – albeit to a decreasing extent.

Quality

AMTRA places the highest demands on quality and safety standards, as evidenced by numerous certifications in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001, SCCP and PQ VOL.

Customer testimonial Mr. Deußen | RWE Power AG

“Our AMTRA contact partner contributed a great deal with his specialist knowledge and made a significant contribution to the success of the project. The official specifications were worked out and implemented in close cooperation. The project was determined by changing requirements on our part. The Amtra team responded to these requirements immediately and developed practical and economical solutions. The delivery and installation of the container system by Amtra went without a hitch. The site manager and the fitters were always friendly and carried out their work professionally and accident-free. The Amtra team worked in partnership to bring the project to a successful conclusion.”
